Question Full Spectrum Lighting Question

Does anybody know any good sites to purchase lighting supplies?
I also found a person on Ebay that sells Agri-Zone lites - says they are a true light.
If anybody can lead me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!
Thanks - Natalie

Do a search for full spectrum lighting here on the board...there has been a LOT of discussion on the topic. Joel is our resident expert on lighting, and he led me in the right direction. I looked all over for hanging lamp (with an electronic ballast, downward reflectors, and a pull on/off chain), and couldn't find one. Thankfully, Joel had extras and offered to ship one to me. I believe he still has a few if you PM him. That is really the best way to go, IMO.

I don't know anything about Agri-Zone lights, but my intuition says they are not the right thing for parrots. You need a CRI of at least (help me out Joel!) I believe a 92...but higher is better. Ollie's are 98.

I ordered my bulbs off of here: http://www.atlantalightbulbs.com/eca...LIPS&x=28&y=29
Those are the exact bulbs you need. The lamp takes 2, but I believe you must order 4 to meet the minimum amount for shipping.

Here are a few pictures of what you would get from Joel. They work great, it looks good, and it really brightens up our previously dark living room! Ollie really looks forward to her light coming on in the morning!

My husband is in the lighting business - new lighting for less electrical use actually. He answered my question with some info for you.
Io,ooo hours is the max time some of these bulbs are good for, but not all are equal.
The actual symbol for Cri is 'Ra', & 92 is correct.....its all a bit out of my league.

For myself I use an Ott-Lite for natural light while painting. It's American & says it's full spectrum. It's expensive - at least in Canada - but it comes in a variety of applications. The bulbs are guaranteed & they have been responsive.
