Birdie bad habits - Lorrikeets

I have a scaley breasted lorri who is absolutely the coolest bird, but he gets a bit agressive sometimes. Not overly but annoyingly. He always wants to be in your face, especially around the mouth area and always tries to pull my partners glasses off. Nipping the lips is the most annoying though! Is there a way to stop it? I divert him by putting him in my palm upside down and tickling his belly he loves that and it keeps him from nipping me or giving me a facial! How do you break bad behaviours like that. He was doing this from day one.

Lories tend to be very clownish high energy birds. The literally get sugar highs every day! Some of those habits are best stopped by NOT letting him on your shoulders, as much as he wants to. If he can't behave then he should be at chest lvl or lower.

Hi Big Bird

I also own a yellow breasted lorikeet. I have found that when Ricky was near my mouth, he was thirsty or hungry but did not want to fly to his cage to get a drink or food. (try and have food and a drink near you to see what he does, this is how I found out) I now have breakfast time for him, lunch and dinner time. Also play time is after breakfast time and after dinner. He then nestles in my neck and goes to sleep. What I am saying is he needs a routine as he is a very smart bird. He now also has cage time and flying time in the morning and at night. I am looking for alternative food for Ricky as I would like to train him some more. If not he will boss me around as he is so clever! Petra

i have a rainbow lorikeet that always wants to be at my mouth but its reason is when it was 7 days old i had a bit of a problem feeding it and nothing i tried worked so i thought id put a bit of food in my mouth and feed it well it worked and i didnt have to do this for long as it grew a bit(it was a tiny baby for a lorikeet) and it then fed off my bent spoon. it also like the mouth area for kisses lol

as for the naughtiness of the birdie, i just put my red collar rainbow outside for a few days cause i am sick and tired of her bad manners and bad behaviour and biting so this is her punishment and she is sulking hehehe so hopefully it will work the last bite was a bugger it was on the second knuckle of my pointer finger ouchhhhhhhhh she jsut missed a vein too lol
