Question Anybody have one?

Does anybody have one of those get a grip climbing ropes? I found a place that is raffling one off http://www.birdtoydiscounter.com/sunshop/ . Do your birds REALLY play on one of them? If so I may have to try my luck. Also what size do you have and what kind of bird(s)?

I saw one at an exotic bird expo last weekend, and I thought my birds would love one--but it was $125, and I'd already spent about $400 on toys and perches, so I couldn't afford it. I would have liked to put one in an outdoor aviary we hope to build this spring. I know that someone here with cockatoos has one, though, and it looks like their birds absolutely love it!

We don't have one as I refuse to spend $125+ on something I can make myself. I'm going to get either, natural jute or cotton rope and make one myself. They look like they would be a blast for the birds...

I personally would be afraid to put my birds on anything that had holes that they could get caught up in. In my opinion, I think the holes should be large enough so's that the birds entire body can pass thru the opening freely. I'd be afraid of a head getting stuck and the bird panicking, getting a wing tip caught in another hole....

Better for me I think to hang many connecting ropes without any rhyme or reason they can climb and play on..but like I said, that's just me.

Lynn Secosan has one and says her BG loves it. However, they are very, very heavy, so be sure that whatever you hang it on can take the weight. I'm thinking that sooner or later I'm gonna buy one for my guys. With so many macaws around here, its important to keep them busy.

I wonder how much damage they'll edure, however. I have a macrame monkey vine that a friend made and my birds have almost chewed through it. Since it was $100, I'd like to be sure the net would last a few years. With the big birds, that's not very likely.

I think they looked great!! I don't have one but if I had somewhere to hang it I would get one for Willow. I think you should go for it...the money is for a very good cause anyways!

Thanks for the website! The toys look great and the prices are very reasonable!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I have tried finding rope of that diameter and UNTREATED but it seems as soon as the rope gets that big it's in a marinia and it's treated with an oily substance.

I was researching the toy and found the company that makes it and the size of the rope and the squares (if you get the right size for your bird) seems safe. If you all would like to read about it I found the maker here http://www.estarbird.com/GetaGrip.html . The size the store is raffling actually sells that size cheaper than the maker .... go figure! I don't have the cash to buy one, and I like gambling (TG I don't live in LV ) so I guess I'll buy a few tickets! Wish me luck (dice roll emoticon, LOL)!!!
