Warning For Happy Hut Users

My friend just sent me pictures of her little lovie that was injuried from a happy hut. It got its leg stuck on the tag and could not get it out so the fid tried to chew its own leg off. PLEASE BE WATCHFUL WHEN YOU LET YOUR FIDS PLAY IN THE HAPPY HUT!!

Thanks for the heads up, hope the little one is going to be ok.
I have heard of this happening but have never seen the results.
I only put my birds hut in at bed time and it comes out in the morning as soon as he is awake.

slightly off topic: does the Happy Hut encourage nesting behavior? I thought I read somewhere that it did so it should be avoided?

I thought I read that somewhere. I have heard horror stories about hormonal female ekkies so I never even considered buying one.

The OP is very important, though, for those who have them.

MY lovie is a male and he has not even began to display any of these behaviors, IMO it would also be the females.

No tags on mine either! However, when the happy huts get a bit worn, you also have to watch out for the threads from the seams.
Poor baby!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the heads up Chris!

Thanks for the warning!! That is so sad! I made sure I cut the tags off before I put it in the cage.

I have never read about happy huts causing nesting behavior although I always thought that is could. Mango never has exhibited such behaviors in the 3+ years I've had it in the cage.
