Is it a bad sign that a B&G fights with other B&G?

I've been visiting a pet store that has 2 4-month B&G's and a GW. I've been falling in love with one of them in particular and he seems to return the affection. I've noticed he's not particularly good with the other B&G though and they fight a bit. Is this a bad sign and maybe I should look else where? The other B&G is very un-sociable and I haven't been able to bond with it at all. The GW is very good looking bird, and likes attention. But he squawks to get it, whereas the B&G is already trying to talk. Plus, the size difference is a bit intimidating. I also have been getting along well with a double yellow head amazon. That bird is truly amazing. He's a natural when it comes to doing the step up. He even tried to step up onto my finger from the other side of a glass cage! It's nice to hear him purr out a 'hello' when i'm talking to the B&G too.

I'm becoming a regular at this pet store. Who knows, I'm still exploring and learning from these magnificent birds.

I don't think that the behavior of birds that young is necessarily any real indicator. My 4 change roles all the time. And, don't be at all intimidated by the size of birds. The bigger the bird, the more gentle they are likely to be. I would take a GW in a heartbeat if I were getting any more birds. They are big sweet gentle babies.

I started building one, but I can't find the right materials for the bars. After my last thread, I was looking for wrought iron or stainless steel, but haven't found the right source to buy it in specific sizes.

So now I'm going to buy a cage. I wanted one made out of wood that way it would accentuate the house as furniture, but I think a metal cage is the best option for the money & availability.

Trust me on this: A wooden cage and a macaw=damaged home and sick bird. Stick with powder coated or stainless steel. If you are considering a BG, then 3 feet by 4 ft by 6 ft tall is what you are looking for. If you are considering a GW, it HAS to be a high quality cage. They can break a lot of the cheap cage welds. Good luck. I love macaws.
