Video of tiel Dakota talking

I don't talk much about my tiel, Dakota, mostly because he still lives at home on the farm. He is my mom's bird now, and will try to attack me if she is in the room! I guess he resents me for leaving him behind!

Anyways, here is a video of him talking. My mom was sitting on the floor by his cage working on a scrapbook, thus he is at the bottom of his cage in the corner, as close to her as possible. His love for her is so adorable! You can see that as soon as she sticks her hand up there he starts talking for her.

He is so cute! He's got a high pitched voice so I couldn't hear him at first, but oh gosh! Cute!

How adorable! What a neat voice, sort of a talking whistle. I could understand his Good morning and pretty bird just fine.

I have a cockatiel that does that and I swore he was trying to talk, but my hubby said that it was just whistling. Now I know he is talking! Just not as clear as my other big birds!

Yes, it is not as clear as large parrots. That is why I'm continuously amazed when I hear larger parrots talking- I'm just not used to it yet! Dakota speaks in more of a whistle to the tune of the words we are saying. However, you can definitely make out his phrases. He also says Hello, Good morning Camille, and can whistle the Looney Tunes theme song.

I would definitely recommend a tiel to anybody! He is fiercly loyal to my mom!
