Love this idea!! I have to show this post to my husband & get him started! Nancy's right - this is a way cool climbing toy, even if you arent going to use it for containment. My macaw isnt much of a shredder though, so she might actually stay inside it...

Jim, I hate to be the one party-pooper here but I see potential dangerous problems with the rope screen. Should hopefully be ok though if ya are truly going to be out there ALL THE TIME the birds are loose. Either bird can chew threw that rope IMO and could even get a head caught or leg /foot caught in-between the runners..... Hopefully with your presence, everything will be ok.

Believe me Joel you are not a party pooper, My fids are never unsupervised when out of their cages. I actually look forward to them cutting thru a few pieces of rope as every time they do it will add another knot, therefore another toy. Funny thing is, neither of them have even chewed a little on it. Sophie hasn't even tried to untie anything yet.

Jim:

I like your idea a lot, however not for containment. I think it would be great hung from the ceiling so that the birds could climb all over it. I, too, would tie toys and big beads all over it with lots of colored mop fringe. In fact, I think I'm gonna whip one up for my aviary.

The problem with the cargo netting (Get a Grip) is that I'm afraid they'll get tangled in it. By having everything fastened down, however, it becomes a safer option, IMHO.
