patio cover is done

I put it all up tonight to see what it would look like and as I thought no matter how loosely I tried to weave it, it still got tight enough to bend the pvc. The gaps aren't big enough for Zoey or Sopphie to slip out. Come Sunday they will get to play outside for the first time. I'm going to visit my Mom tomorrow so they gotta wait a day.

That is cool! How long did it take you to make that? I have a 4 day weekend coming up over Easter. I already have one project, make a storage chest/bench seat for the kitchen. I could possibly squeeze in one more.

Jim:

I assume you realize that the ekkie could chew through that in minutes, literally. However, I also assume that you'll be out there with them when you have them outside anyway. Its pretty cool, though! My macaws would have fun climbing all over it before they decided to "redo" it to their specifications.

However, I bet you could put screening behind it and that would take care of bugs and break outs.

It took about 6 hours over all time as I was pretty maticulous about the weaving. It could have been done alot faster. I actually screwed the rope to the pvc at every wrap over the end. (stainless) Oh I sure do know either of them could shred thru in minutes. In my little devious mind as they do I will tie in patches which will give them lots more to play with. They will never be unsupervised out there either. Now I break out the scroll saw and the kiln dried 4 x 4 and start cuttin out toys!!!

That's very cool. Maybe you could embellish it, when you repair it, with beads. Seems a pity it will be shredded.

Jim:

Even if it doesn't work out as a cage, its still one hell of a climbing toy. I actually like it better than the cargo nets. Its really very cool
