Illegal bird???

Does anyone know if a Jenday Conure is illegal in Georgia? My husband has an employee whose girlfriend has one and she wants to get rid of it and I'm willing to take it if I can have it vetted, which won't happen if it's illegal. Someone told me that they were illegal in Georgia.

I've only heard of quakers being illegal in certain states... all other parrots fine... Just a warning, Jendays are noisy!

Maybe you could just ring an avian vet from Georgia and ask them. They should know for sure.

How noisy? I've got a Hahn's that's pretty vocal.....any worse than that and I'm probably not going to be interested in this little fella and they'll have to try to find someone else to take him.

Jendays are legal here, it's quakers that are illegal. So go again and adopt her!

Jendays and suns are normally boughten for their bright colors, but when they mature, they are normally rehomed because of the noise they make... So I'd assume he'd probably be noisier than your current birds... with a high pitched screach.

Whether or not your interested in him, you should probably go see him, and if he DOES need a home (desperately) at least consider fostering him until you can find another home.

I have a Jenday in my store that is for sell. She is the loudest bird there. However personality wise, she is also the funniest. I have turned people away due to living in apartments. I will only sell to someone who owns/rent a home or trailer, and is able to deal with the noise factor.

I think I'm going to go ahead and at least foster this little guy until I can find him a permanent home....I don't have the heart to leave him in a home where he isn't wanted- I don't think they ever take him out of the cage and play with him anymore and I think he's probably on an all-seed diet too. The only people he'd really bother around here would be mostly me:-) I'm the one who is home during the day. Plus, my daughter REALLY wants a sun conure...I think I'll tell her that this is as close as she's gonna get for a while and let her help me take care of him.
