My brush with "Fame"

Today one of the local pet shops in Gladstone had their 10 birthday celebrations (tomorrow also). I had planned on going to see the specials and to take Skye on my shoulder to socialise her (and show her off). I knew that Dr Harry Cooper was going to be there all weekend and planned on at least setting eyes on him. Anyway last night the dog obedience club here rang me and asked me if I would take one of my dogs because Dr Harry Cooper had suggested the pet shop ask our club to bring a couple of dogs while he did a talk. So I took my Border Collie (Mysta) and with Skye still on my shoulder stood with 3 other club members waiting to do whatever it was he wanted (we had no idea what was in store for us). Anyway after he talked for about 30 mins, he got Carol (president of obedience club here and her german shepherd) to talk about stuff. He noticed Skye and said, "you have an Ekkie on your shoulder", I said "yes" and then he asked me to come up on stage and we talked about birds. Pretty awesome heh!! I have been hobnobbing it with the "rich and famous"-well famous anyway. Skye was so well behaved again. People patting her and wanting to hold her, she even started jibbering while on my shoulder. The local paper took a photo of me and skye while waiting for Dr Harry Cooper. Just in case some don't know Dr Harry Cooper, he is a well known vet in Australia who had his own show called "Harry's Practice", and I loved it as well as my kids did too. When (and if) the picture is in the paper, I will post it.

I watch Dr. Harry and saw him live at the Brisbane Pet and Animal Expo in Brisbane once but I didn't speak personally to him. I noticed this year on his segment on Better Homes and Gardens that he is doing more birds, you used to have to sit through hours of dogs and cats before you get a bird segment. :? Sometimes Burkes Backyard features birds as well.
