Humphrey is clearing in an odd mood

Hi everyone,
The other day I told you Humph wouldn't stop yelling. Same thing this morning, for about an hour. Just now, he flew over, landed on my husband's lap, and spent ages nuzzling his head and 'shoulders' into the crook of my husband's arm, and the space between my husband's arm and body. He also rubbed his head against my husband's thumb, so my husband rubbed Humph's head too. As soon as Humph figured out my husband was touching him, he objected. It's as if he wanted his head and neck rubbed, but also didn't, at the same time. Or he wanted his head and neck rubbed but he wanted to be in charge. Regardless, this is a breakthrough. Humphrey likes to land on us and climb all over us, but we can't touch him with our hands. He was rubbing the sides of his body, and especially his head., all over my husband's hands and arms. It was amazing - my husband said that Humphrey felt and seemed 'snuggly".

I wonder if the screaming and this are connected? Perhaps Humph (who is female, actually) is hormonal? Anyway, it was absolutely lovely. My husband loved it - he's recovering from an operation and enjoyed Humph snuggling on him.

I'm too sexy...

Kiwi has been very lovey as of late, holding our faces with her footie and oh so charming.

She is being sexy, Michele. Dissuade her towards playfulness versus a sexual posture. Hubs does not want her rubbing suggestively - believe me - it over-excites the bird and will affect the human mom/dad role. That is JMHO

Hmmm...how exactly would you encourage playfulness and discourage sexiness? Obviously, If she rubs her bottom on my husband I know that is suggestive, to say the least! But rubbing her head against his fingers - that's ok, right?

Head Rubbing is OK

I mean by encouraging playfullness as a head rub followed by a fun game of chase or paper pull or something - I have found Kiwi gets a little sexy after a good head rub or chest scratch so I tend to follow up with a game of "attack the hat" or something similar. Get it? Thus discouraging a desire to "rub against a finger".

But then Miss Humph could be very diferent my Keekers. Plus - I am so glad t hear she has been coming out of her shell and allow touching at all. Good job!

He/she's been really odd this evening - first he approached my bare foot and began doing the head bobbing 'dance' that he does for his toys for it (the same dance I asked about in the thread "what is he doing?") Then he walked over to my husband's foot and did the same thing. Now he's just sitting on my husband's foot or walking all over it.

EArlier, he was going behind the cage (which is sat on a chair). I hope he/she wasn't looking for nest spots!

But what on earth is this dance? I've had it explained that when he does it for a toy, it's because he's bonded with the toy. But he rarely sees our feet enough to bond to them! Or are they an extension of us>

Hi Michelle! Tiki is going through the same thing. She has never done this to her toys, only me. But she will do it sitting on my shoulder, my arm, my lap, or while looking at me from the top of her cage. She has done it while facing away from me, too (but still sitting on me)??? She is 8 months old and I guess I need to look up exactly when she should start sexual maturity. She has been doing this for months now though!!

Michele,
Be glad that he/she is dancing on your feet and not attacking them; any bare feet showing around our house are an invitation for an attack! Elwood lunches for the feet, nips a bit, and then yells "OW". It is humorous, but only if he doesn't nip to hard. Buck Buck will just eat your feet alive.

Corbett does the same! Corb attacked my feet twice when I was home this last time! Why do they do it?

Hey, I want the answer to that one, too! Cory attacks my toes. Zen will sit and yell at my feet only if I'm wearing socks.
