Stormy Night in GA

North GA had bad weather last night. Roswell and Marietta areas. Powerlines down. Areas with what look like Tornado activity. Members up that way, please check in if you can.

Hey, All is well here! But Boy What a night.... I think we got about 2 hours sleep last night. Bird too! We live on a mountain range that faces another mountian and when the thunder hits it echos through the valley and it sounds worse that it really is! I think that it could have permantly scared Pebbles and Bam-Bam. Their cage is in front of a huge picture/bay window that faces the mountain. Well, at 1:00AM I went to check on them behind the sheets and I swear I saw two macaws sitting and looking at the storm and lighting in utter terror!

I've got to fix that problem! I can't put anything on the windows inside, they have torn up every thing I put there. I was wondering if anyone here has come up with a solution to window covering that wouldn't get chewed up. At the peek of the storm last night I was thinking about that and looked at covering the outside of the windows, maybe a outside blind or a cover with velcro that I put up at night. It wouldn't have stayed lastnight though the wind was too bad.

Glad you checked in Tamaran. Sorry that your babies got scared. Maybe when the weather is bad you could push their cages into an inner room away from the windows. Angel and Jesse sleep in smaller cages in our bed room. Maybe you could have emergency cages for just such a night as last night. They probably wouldn't mind smaller accommodations for a short time if they felt safer. From what I've seen on TV this morning, I probably would have slept in the bathtub last night. Geesh, that storm did some more damage in some places.

Hubby is in Atlanta all weekend for a seminar, he called me about 7:00 am left a message so I know he is ok...

Re the window problem:
A client of mine has the most amazing metal roller blind that you work from inside like a normal pull up (with a retractable cord like a measuring tape). The blinds have 3 functions - security - shade - safety. On the outside above the window is the box/valance for the blinds. The blinds have tiny holes so it's not too much like a garage door & each panel is about 2" high. So some light does come thru - lace like. I don't know where she got them off hand, but I''ll ask the next time I'm there.
At least you can start looking if this sounds like a solution.
