I don't really know what she is. She isn't a pure Vos because she doesn't have a yellow tailband. I think that she might have SI in her but I forget why I decided that.

I have tried off and on to figure out what she is but I always get frustrated and give up. It isn't that important to me.

the rescue had no information about her subspecies either. All her 1st owners could tell them was that she came from a pet store.

Beautiful gal you have! She's obviously spoiled.

I think I read somewhere that there are 9 or 10 subspecies, but the 4 most popular is the US as pets are the Solomon Island, Red-Sided, Grand, and the Vos.

I read that there were 9 subspecies but that not everyone agreed on that number.

The females are not that difficult to differentiate. I believe the problem is that the males of each subspecies are almost identical and extremely hard to tell apart.

Scarlett is probably a hybrid. Outlaw's/basketbagley's Mai Tai is a hybrid too.

she is a beauty no doudt. She has no yellow at all on her tail? I too got so confused about sub species with the Eclectus. A Grand Eclectus has a much smaller yellow band then a Vos but other wise look like them. Dependeing on who you ask, the Grand is either the largest or smallest sub species.

the tips of her tail-feathers are a burnt-orange color which I think is indicitive of one of the subspecies--I forget which one.

She also has a blue eye ring that she perpetually scratches out which I think also gives us some clues.

She weighed 386 grams at the vet last time she was there.

I don't know. She's a gorgeous happy ekkie girl and that's enough for me.
