Aloe?

I read that aloe is a great suppliment for my fids, but can't seem to find out how much to give. I currently am putting 1T of pure aloe gel per day in the dinner that is then doled out to 2 cockatoos, a conure, parakeet and love bird. Any idea if this is enough? too much?

Aloe is great for birds! I feed fresh aloe to my girl during the summer and occasionally add pure aloe vera juice to her water during the winter.

You can read all about aloe here: http://www.landofvos.com/articles/wingtips/aloe.html

Yes, that is the article that inspired me to begin with, just not sure how much I should be giving.

We drink Aloe juice in our house - I add it to fruit juice & smoothies. They suggest 2 to 8 oz a day for a human. Now that's pretty vague - not based upon weight. (My friend drank the gell version, for her ulser.)
Nothing is written about the toxic effects except for the aloe 'skin'.
End of my info. I'll be interested to hear more imput.

I give her one half-inch long slice of aloe each day--this is from one of those huge aloe leaves they sell in the grocery store.

As for the liquid aloe vera juice, I don't really measure it. I just fill up her water bowl and then add a generous splash to top it off.

You can if you don't use pesticides or fertilizers in your garden.

Well, with that kind of loose dosage, I would guess the amount I am using should be ok. The girls are getting the gel mixed in their dinner, and they CLEAN their bowls! When I gave them slices of fresh aloe they played a bit, but weren't particularly impressed. This way I know they are actually getting it in them.

Now if only someone would develop a hybrid aloe that tasted like peanuts.....
