weigh ins and millet spray

I finally got a scale today. Under $35 too! Benji weighed more than I thought at 67g. Zoey bless her heart hasn't gained a gram in a year at 115g. It seems Sophie has ballanced out and she weighed in at 450g. Not sure what the proper name for it would be but it seems that tail feathers are stacked into differant sets (?) well Sophie only has one "set" left. Its 4 feathers on top of each other so it looks like one untill she spreads it out.

Yesterday was all three fids first experiance with millet spray. I broke down and put out the big bucks......5 for a dollar..........Sophie looked at hers. Walked around it, twice, looked away. Came back. I looked away for just a second and poof it was gone. Zoey looked at hers and decided it was yet another item to fear so she flapped her wings. Ran away. Squawked. I cut off a piece and then it was good to eat. Benji. Little Benji...........bless his heart. I cut a piece for him too. He chased it around his cage from corner to corner untill it was gone. It was too cute and too funny and the best entertainment we had yesterday!
Tomorrow I am off to help my niece move. Yippy. oh well it means Mom is gonna cook dinner..................

Hey Jim, if you hang the millet in the cage, the birds usually will eat it up. You can buy a millet holder, make one out of beads and a spiral of wire, or you can go the easy way and attach it with a clothes pin or paper clamp.
I weighed all my birds April 10th
Angel 374 gms
Jesse 326 gms
Phoebe 998 gms
Gabriel 998 gms
"D" 388 gms
Kiwi 432 gms
Seymour-that aint' hap'nin.

Lol! A very funny story!! The way you wrote it made me crack up Jim!

Hmm 35 dollars aint that bad. Over here weigh in is around 60 to 100dollars.
Also Millet spray must be cheap over there because where I live they are about 4 to 5 dollars for 6millet sprays! Thats about a dollar for 1 millet spray!

HAH! Lucky dog!!

We bought a few bags of millet before Aree even arrived. She was 4 months whn she arrived. She is now 10 months, and in all her time here has probably eaten a litle less then half of ONE spray. Talk about a waste of money!

Freddie shows no interest in millet whatsoever. Ahhh, the joys of birds.

If you think they liked it dry, you should try sprouting it for them. I just started a new batch today for my little ones and they absolutely love that stuff.

I get millet from Foster & Smith since I'm always oredering something from them anyways. They've got it on sale at the moment, a pound for $2.99!
