Question Can't decide...

I can't seem to decide whether or not I want another bird. My dad's allergies have calmed extremly since Palmer left, so he's fine with Fred and Aree. I had another post about Basil, and i'm most likely getting him.

So here are my options:

1. Basil the lovebird- A rescue bird who sounds absolutly perfect!

2. A Meyers Parrot- The bird of my dreams. The reason i'm contemplating between Basil and a Meyers is because I wonder if i'll ever get to sleep without dreaming about one again. Another person on this board said that you should always get the bird you REALLY want, because otherwise you'll never get your "bird fill."

The downside: I would NEVER find one of these in a shelter. I would be buying from Aree's breeder.

3. Not get another at all- and just spend all of my time with Aree.

This would be my last bird until I move out, and so I want to make the right choice. What do you guys think?

Go with what your heart tells you. That's the right choice.

You can always take in the lovie, then wait until you're out on your own to get the meyers.

I think you should slow down!
I totally sympathise about the fab varieties - but your Aree is still a baby. I really like brown heads too, & think you're very lucky.
In the future, I think a Meyers will be a good match in temperment & size for Aree [ careful about any possible hybridising - not sure it's possible here, but they are poicephalus & similar] if you just keep your eyes open you might get lucky. It would be worth the wait if tht's what you really want.
Right now, I'd put all my energy into making Aree the most wonderful friend. That little one will hopefully be with you a long time.
