Eddie and the fantail

We quite often get a fantail who comes through the garden and eats little insects from the leaf litter. I have taken Eddie outside when it turns up before and the fantail darts all around her.

Tonight my flatmate got two pics of the fantail and eddie checking each other out. This fantail has been passing through for three years now, and always is a wonder to watch and has a beatiful little song.

Eddie loves sitting on this post and has a ball in the spider webs.

Later on she see's a old peanut tin. Well she wants it and it doesn't matter it's beside the dog.

Jess just lay there, her ears went up, but she just lay there watching that crazy bird

Then she just dragged it off under the bed! She amazes me with her strength.

Then it was up the curtains for some gym work.

A good wing stretch on the curtains, What a day!

She's just a little doll. Of course, you know to never lever her alone unsupervised with the dog .

It took me awhile to find the fantail, but I finally did! Great pix. I especially love the one of Eddie upside down on the drapes :-).

What's a Fan Tail? parrot like? You have all the fun with the beautiful birds.
Fun pics of Eddie - loved the hiding the can + gym work out.
The display of her wings shows how well you've clipped her (?) it looks good.
Nice for her; to be outside for a little on that roped board – did you do that for her?
Is there any cause for concern in your country, about the pet getting sick from wild birds? We have 'West Nile' here, usually with crows unfortunately.

New Zealand is a land of birds and had no mammels at all untill humans arrived.
This link is about our native birds
Kiwi and other natives of N.Z.

I am thinking about spending some time in New Zealand this coming October. I'm planning to go back to Australia for a week or so and am thinking about spending 3 or 4 days in New Zealand. I've been reading some travel books, but still have not decided what all I'd like to do there ... what would you suggest? I'll be in Sydney and maybe Melbourne while in AU, so it's a relatively easy trip over to NZ.

I would definatly reqamend stopping off in NZ. It's a very beautiful little green country and In the bay of islands in summer you can do all the summer beach stuff and yet go snow skiing by Taupo in winter. You could spend a year here and still not see it all, as I have met people who have. Queenstown is tourist party central and wellington is known for winds that have blown people off there feet! But having our government there could explain that. The people are friendly and nice, except for Monica's flatmate who sounds Austrailian!
But seriously, well worth it while your down here!

Talking

I love the fantail's eyebrows! Thanks
Aaahhhhhhhhhh Down under........the-upsidedown-of here? I don't think so.

I think I've seen almost every expose on the animals, plants, tourist destinations & some movies of both New Zealand & Australia & can't get enough - you guys are so lucky. I've met a few Aussies here & they have said Canada isn't all that different (but what about the winter?) do you think they were just being polite? or is it a political thing?
