My red-bellied is home!!

I am so happy! We called the breeder last night to make a see if we could make a visit, and she said that she thought he was ready to go home! We really weren't prepared, but of course I already had the cage ready, so we decided to do it! He was so quiet and still the whole way home. Now that we are home, he is so scared. He stepped up to me at first, but now he won't even come to me. He is eating, but otherwise he just sits on his perch and stares. He seems really scared of my dog, although at the breeders she had 6 big dogs running around crazy and my little chihuahua just kind of sits here. Hecan't climb up the sides of the cage or anything and keeps falling off his swing. Anyhow, I am so happy to have him home!! He's so beautiful!!

Congrats!!! I would let him settle in today and then tomorrow I'd keep his cage door open with all the other animals put away if you can and let him feel comfortable with the feeling of being able to come and go into his cage. This is how I always introduce a new bird to my family. Then when they come out on their own you can try and have him step up.

He's just a baby so it will take a little practice climbing around. My Betty Rubble is still very young and she can't seem to navagate from the inside of her cage to the top so I continue to put her on the top

Congrats on your new red-bellied! Beetle came from a wonderful couple who occasionally has RB babies available so believe me: I've been tempted!

Can't wait to see pics of the little rascal :)
