Wink Bad But Good Girl

Well after the past two days of a bad bird, I figured I'd go ahead and make her even more mad at me by putting her in her travel cage and taking her to the vet for a normal check up and so she could get a pedicure. I told the vet who was a new face in office that she is a bitter and she is a flyer. So be careful. SHE DIDN'T SCREAM! SHE DIDN'T TRY TO FLY AWAY, SHE DIDN'T NIP OR ANYTHING! Guess she like new doctor cause she makes such a scene with the other doctor! The booger made a fibber out of me! So since she was such a good girl, we buy a new toy and get her some treats and I really went out, I gave her a hash round out of my order this morning. Get her home and she screams and yells and refuses for me to touch her! arrrrrrgh She'll want her chin scratched later so it's a matter of time. Over all, she is healthy and a bit pudgy than last time. She's finally eatting her veggies! hahaha

Now comes the question. My birds all have wooden or rope type perches. This Doc tells me to get her cement perches to help keep her nails 'trimmed' on their own. I hear many say yes and more than that say no due to it being too rough on their tooties.......Any one care to answer me, should I get her one?

We have a cement or other hard, textured perch in all of the birds' cages. We also have rope and sanded manzanita or apple perches in their cages. That way they get variety--soft rope for comfort and a good grip, wood, 'cause they like it, and the cement ones for their little toenails. They can choose which ones they stand on, but we put the cement perch in each cage in front of either their food or water dishes. so that they pretty much have to stand on it for a little bit several times each day.

I also have them in all my cages.....Just one...usually the highest perch in the cage....I really dont have to trim tootsies at all, with the exception of Sydney when he widdles his toenails to daggers....
