Hi Irish!

We are still alive! I survived two weeks of finals (almost I have one more class) and with those 20 credits, I was sooo incredibly busy I barely had time to breath! I have one more on Saturday.

Lance has been working in the yard as much as possible with this great weather we have had, so we have not been spending much time on the net.

How has everyone else been???

Heyas, Amber. Glad to see you're alive, well, and surviving finals :-). We've been hoping there wasn't a problem with Jack, and I'm glad to hear all is well with your family.

We're fine. Built a 6' fence around the property, which I've now dubbed "the Compound". *grins*. Keeps the dogs where they're supposed to be. Spouse has been rototilling, too, and we'll be doing some planting this weekend of stuff we bought at the tulip festival. A hydrangea, some red daylilies, some lavender, and a pretty perennial that I can't think of the name of. Plus we'll be getting to Portland Nursery or somesuch so I can have my pink dogwood. Maybe pick up some vine maple if we can find it, too, and plant some shade-tolerant grass seed. Spouse is on-call this weekend, so we can't travel. It's a good time to work at home, though, as the planting needs done, and we need to do some room switching in preparation of Arthur's arrival. So, like you, we're busy but well :-).

p.s. My youngest son (age 17) was in his first two "one act" plays last night. He did real good, and I'm proud of him :-).

The planting never ends! We have a large pink dogwood in our front yard. It bloomed and it is beautiful!

Wow,so your son is an actor? Thats great! I bet it is so exciting watching him.

A six foot fence! That sounds nice! We need half of a new fence on one side of our house too. I bet you are getting anxious and just wanting Arthur home!Did you find him a reasonable cage?

Well it was great hearing from everyone. Sorry we went MIA there for a while...

Heyas :-). We found a cage for Arthur identical to Bob's (I think they measure in the area of 40"x30"x72", with dome top), used, for $200. Do you remember the brother and sister Moluccans in the store? The people who bought the male sold it to me. It was their M2's cage before his new cage arrived. You should see the mansion that M2 lives in, now! An 80" wide, 72" tall, stainless steel double macaw cage all to himself, and hung with hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars worth of toys. The "poor bird" also has 2 huge, custom playstands. His peeps and he live in a tiny little house, and they drive a tiny little beater of a car, and their M2 has nicer digs than they do! LOL! Would that all parrots could have it so good! He is VERY well-loved :-).

For now, though, Bob and Arthur will have to settle for theirs, as we have neither the room nor the dinero to shell out for two double stainless steel macaw cages at Dog knows how many thousands, each. Their current cages are good quality, fairly decent size, and all the birds have access to lots of playstands and toys and spend tons o'time out of their cages, so they're not doing so badly :-). I think Arthur will come home no sooner than 2 weeks from now, as he's still taking one large handfeeding in the evenings. I think the owners of the store want him out asap, though, so they can have his cage space for some BG babies that are supposed to be coming in. So, yes, I'm anxious to have him home, but only when he's ready!

The fence is utilitarian. I would rather have had wrought iron with those little fleur de lis on the top :-). But hey, it does the trick, and as we built it ourselves over 3 weekends, it saved us a bunch of money over hiring someone else to do it for us. Now for the landscaping! Gotta hide that fence, somehow.... *grins*
