We have hardwoods, and find them easy to care for. Sweep, mop, you're done :-). For bird poo that sticks, we just put a squirt of enzyme on it, wait a couple of minutes, and it mops right up. Of course, our hardwoods are sealed with polyurathane, not waxed, which might be a different story altogether when it comes to cleanup.
