update on my brother's bird

Hi everyone,

After putting a sign on the shop's door, saying "we want our bird" and leaving it there for about a week, my brothe'rs wife called the police who advised her to call animal control. She did so, and they will contact the SPCA, and they will investigate, and the animals may be seized. If so, they my brother and his wife have Franklin's leg band number and the receipt for the amount they paid for him, so they will get him. I feel so bad for the other birds there. Hopefully if this happens they will find good homes.

That's horrible. In this case, I almost hope that the old man has been sick or something, and that's why he's had to neglect the birds....then, in some way, it's understandable, more so than him just abandoning them altogether.

I'm glad to hear that it's all almost at an end for your brother, his fid, and all the other birds that have been neglected in there!

Well I'll tell you now - it's in New Jersey. It's called "Cherry Hill Exotic Birds" and we have no idea what happened to the owner. My brother says there is a pile of mail by the front door, but he believes whoever has been feeding the birds comes in thru the back door. WE all know, birds need more than feeding!

Also, he's not an old man - he's in his early 30s. I was impressed with his knowledge and care of birds, but, as my husband said:

"It's sad it had to come to this, but for the sake of the birds it's worth it. If the guy is a *genuine* animal lover, he'll understand. If not, then
(*&^ him. No matter how ill he is."

Let's see what happens with the SPCA...

I called the florist next door (astors) and they have moved - they are no longer next door to cherry hill exotic birds

I believe in accountability and the owner of this pet shop needs to get his act straight. If not ASPCA, he will have to deal with the BirdBoard :x
