Finally a bird room

I finally have been able to change our (my wife and mine) useless dining room into a room for all our birds and one chinchilla. I've been able to relocate or store all the dining room furniture except for the china cabinet. It still remains in the room. I'm thinking about turning it into a fancy bird book cabinet, don't know if the wife will go for that or not.

The birds are much quieter now, the 5 pictured below plus 3 cockatiels. I guess from not having to call or scream to each other since they were placed all through the house. Now they only seem to get noisy for 10 or 15 minutes in the morning and late afternoon. It's easier to keep clean too.

Has anyone here converted a dining room to a bird room?

We converted our master bedroom to a bird room, recently. All the macaws and the conure live there. We now live in the smaller room next door, and I've always preferred that room, so we're happy there. Gracie is in the living room, as she's a dust bird, and the rest are sensitive to 'too dust. I have lots of friends, though, whose living and dining rooms are chock-a-block full o'bird cages, and very little else :-).

Hey, our dining room is one of our bird play areas. When you don't use a dining room, a bird room makes better use for it.

Ditto! Thats what we did with the room the previous occupants used for a dining room. We aren't formal diners, we eat in front of the tv anyway.

Funny - but I had better not show this thread to hubby ...

Was reading an old British Bird Mag & the people there built a bird room outside their large dining room window (they had two Macaws). The window was replaced with cage bars & drapes. There was another window for the birds - the floor was concrete & tiled & had a drain - the walls were Formica’d & insulated & the tree branches were spectacular - too bad I'm having trouble with our scanner ...

We've pretty much turned our living room into the bird room. You have a very pretty flock of birds.

Turned my bedroom into a birdroom, however I'm always moving things around, taking things out or putting them in that it hardly ever stays the same! Having tiled floors has really helped on the cleanup too!

Thanks, for the comments. I'm glad I'm not crazy for doing this. It's a whole lot easier for me cleaning one room rather than 3 (master bedroom, kitchen eating area and greatroom. The birds seem to be happier too
