Gender Help!!

ok i want to buy a 4 month old budgie and i want to know how to sex them when their peek is like pink or purple

Do you mean their cere? That where the two little nose holes are located. Budgies can't be visually sexed until they are older. I think somewhere after 6 months, not exactly sure.

yep u have to wait till they are older unless u wanna dna sex them.
Dont quote me but from what I remeber the lighter and browner indicates female, more purple/bluish is male. Thats if they are not albino or lutino.

Females budgies cere is more pinkish/brownish with white nostril holes. Albino is sort of the only way to tell because the cere may never get full colour. Male is a more purple colour the nostril holes are not white.

Generally speaking males have blue or purple ceres

Females have white, white with blue, tan, or a crusty brown cere


I have YET to see a female budgie with a pink cere, as all the budgies with pink ceres have been males (such as in inos and some pieds). Some males can also attain a tannish/white-ish colored cere unlike that of a females.
