Arrow advice needed

My mom has absolutely fallen in love with my caique, Madeline, but I don't think my mom could handle how loud she can be and the bitting. I really think she would like a bird for herself but I have no idea what kind. I know she likes pretty colored birds and ones that can learn to talk.
Any suggestions???

All birds can learn to talk... and all birds have the potential to be noisy... it just depends on the definition of noisy to each and every individual human. Why not take your mother to some petstores and breeders to get an idea of the various birds???

Here's a website run by an avian vet that has species profiles.

I would say a Green cheek conure, they are quieter then other conures, small, and can talk. And come in many color variations.

Thanks for the suggestion Monica but I really want to surprise her with one so it would be hard to take her to pet stores with me.

Thanks padkison for the link, there is alot of good info there.

Thanks for the bird suggestion keibird. I have been looking at the conures, they are gorgeous. What about the sun conure?

Also someone had suggested a budgie but I don't know much about them.

Suns are the worse choice out there!!! They are one of the noisiest conures! And if not raised right can have a scream fest during the entire day! Of course if all needs are met, then they are also great pets...

Budgies are great too if you want a little bird that has the possibility to talk... although I'd suggest finding a breeder and getting a handraised baby.... or even a handraised cockatiel at that. Quakers and princess parrots are great birds too!

Unhappy

Quakers sounded great until I found out that they are illegal in Ky.

Well, I guess I have to look into some of the others that you all mentioned.
