2 New Additions!

Ok, I went to the bird show today to just LOOK around & buy a few new toys for the gang. Well, as I was walking down the last row I saw a little fish tank with shreaded newspaper in it & it was moving. Of course I had to see what was inside. The guy moved the newspaper & there sat the 2 cutest little 6 week old love birds babies i have ever seen. There was a nother couple that walked up to see them too. They didn't know a thing about birds & didn't look like they would be very good parents either. So, a couple hundred dollars later I am now the proud mom of 2 new babies. I had to rescue them. I have extra cages so I got one out real quick & put all their new toys & stuff in it. I put them in & they made themselves right at home! They started walking around, drank some water, took a bath in it, then started eating. I am concerned about one thing though. The guy said they are fully weaned. He said the last several times he tried to hand feed them, they refused. They seem kinda young to me to be weaned? I handfed both of my Severe Macaws. One weaned at about 6 months or so & the other at 10 months. I bought a bag of handfeeding formula & syringes just in case. Any comments on this? Ive only been home with them for about an hour so I don't have pics yet, I don't want to scare them. Crystal

My lovebird babies wean real quick. It seems like when they start showing an interest in flying they wont eat as much. Then once the start flying well and see me feeding other babies they will hurry in for some nummies but they dont take much.

They have been eating their seed & millet real good since we got home. They have been exploring their new toys & cage as well. I'm gonna start them on veggies & stuff tomorrow. I'll have to work with them a little to get them so their not as scared of me. They were even scared of the guy who sold them to me. Crystal

Thanks. I started a new thread in the love bird section with pics. My babies are bald compared to some of the other babies I see on here. Crystal

Here are the little baldys. The pics are not the best but I don't wanna scared them by taking them out right now. Ive been good & so has everyone else. I moved thats why I haven't been on much. The birds love the new house, they have a big bedroom all to themselves! Toys hangin from every part of the ceiling, its a big jungle gym for them. They now refuse to go in their cages. LOL Crystal
