Hello all,
I was just wondering if somebody could clarify this: At some point or another, I remember The Outlaw (I believe) stating that when stroked on the back in mating season, females get hormonal. After reading that, I limited stroking Aree to around the head. But the latest BirdTalk Magazine (July '06) reads, and I quote: "Allowing a bird to perch on your shoulder should be a privilage that the bird earns when it learns the hosue rules, such as no biting. When hormonal, the shoulder usually is not a good place for any bird. If you allow it, limit petting to the head, because stroking the back of a male can stimulate it sexually" Its on page 57, and its a caption if anyone would like to read it. So who gets stimulated with back-stroking? Girls or guys??

I think both sexes react to back stroking. In females it could lead to egg laying. It is probably best to limit petting to head and chest scritches and try not to pet the back.
