That is neat, I would love to go to Ireland and Scotland. I am decended from Robert the Bruce and other interesting people. I have enjoyed learning lots of things. Reading, not traveling. I have a problem with Fatigue and don't feel well sometimes. I also cannot bring myself to leave my little dog even over night. If I ever get a Pionus, I will call him Ronan. They are HARD to find! I am happy to have my other little pets. They are so quiet and fun. Thanks for answering. Not sure if it sounded strange to ask you. Where is your site? Another Mutt, Sally :)

Sally--not a strange request at all. I get that same question all the time, believe it or not :-).
My spouse is Scottish, born in Glasgow, raised in Edinburgh. Of the MacDonald Clan (not sure exactly which one, as there are several). He's descended of scholars--not sure of any of the Scottish heroes or kings, though. The website hasn't been updated in ages and ages (I'm slooooooow at html, and usually have to wait for spouse to do it for me :-), but the pix are still there from the trips, and there are tons of Scotland, where I've spent the most time. One of Ireland's churches or something like that has used my Ireland pix on their tourism-based website, too. You can see it all at: http://www.IrishEyes.org .

Oh boy..a subject near and dear to my heart.
I'm of Scottish/Irish descent. Clan MacFarlane..whose homeland is at the heads of Loch Long and Loch Lomond and is one of the earliest clans to hold their lands by Fuedal Charter. My late uncle spent many years over there tracing the family history..in Scotland back to the 1100s and in Ireland to the mid 1600s. I'm a transplanted Canadian residing in SOCAL..my wife is from here. Irish..great pictures!! Love that Oregon Coast. When we drive up to British Columbia to see the grandkids & family we always try to give a little extra time on the way back so we can do the Oregon Coast....one cannot just "drive" it....you have to stop and enjoy the beauty. Don't know where you guys are located, but if you're in SOCAL there's a big Irish Fair this weekend in Irvine. LOCH SLOY Skip |

habs, we're in Oregon, so the Irish Fair is out for us, unfortunately. However, we almost always attend the Portland Scottish Highland Games. First time I went, camera in hand, I was oh-so-disappointed to see lycra under the kilts! LOL! Link here, for anyone interested: http://www.phga.org/ . We didn't go last year, but only because it doesn't vary much by year, and it's usually SO dang hot! I love seeing the vendors, watching the border collies, and listening to the music. The first time we went, a local band called "Raven" played a ceilidh there that ran late, and we had the best time ever.
I've been past Loch Lomond, but I haven't seen Loch Long. My spouse could prolly go on forever about his homeland, though. I like to visit the castles, so I've seen and/or wandered through/toured Tantallon, Edinburgh, Craigmillar, Inverness, Urquhart, Linlithgow, Stirling, York (in England), and the truly ancient Celtic fortification of Traprain Law, near-ish Edinburgh. In Ireland, I saw a castle in Dalkey (one of 7, apparently!), some way-cool old beehive huts in the Ring of Kerry, some structures that looked like towers everywhere, and a whole bunch of other interesting architecture (including a windmill in Tralee). And dolphins. Fungi the human-loving wild dolphin in Dingle, and wild dolphins in Dublin Bay. I like the climate in almost any part of Ireland better than in the Edinburgh area of Scotland.

![]() How funny as I have ancestors from Scotland as well. Clan McGraham from the highlands to be precise with the Mc being dropped after coming to America. One of them eventually went Teepee creeping making my blood all the much richer with Lakota running through it now. My mothers side is all German and Prussian. And I am the only redhead in the family for several generations now and with my youngest daughter being a strawberry blonde.

Redheads--gotta love 'em!
Both my paternal grandparents were redheads. Then it skipped a generation, then I got the carrot top, too. As I've aged, it's changed to a reddish/blondish/brownish color, but I've got old pix of me with hair as red as fire! LOL! Spouse's clan also drops the "Mac" sometimes, and is just called clan Donald--at least here in the US, judging from all the stuff we see at highland fairs....
