Have a little story to share...

My Grandkids...yes...38 and I have grandkids....They are 8 and 7.
That kind of stuff happens when you marry an older gentleman....

anywho....

George's Son, Wife and Grandkids, have arrived back in the states after being stationed in Germany for 4 years, and two tours in Iraq. They will be stationed in Co. from now on.

They surprised my husband with setting foot in NJ on fathers day.

they then came to stay with us on Friday. Its been a while since Sarah(8) and Anthony(7) saw the birds. They never met Stirling, Sydney or Emma. They knew Sampson Bell, and Otis.
Sarah decided that she wanted to read the birds a kids story she was reading. She sat on the bird room floor, facing Sydney and Stirling and proceeded to read and show pictures in the book to the birds.
Stirling came down to the lowest perch to listen. Sydney didn't know what to make of these "little creatures" in his room, and Emma was too busy running on the cage floor, trying to get ALL the attention in the house.
Sarah read to them a while, and then stopped to ask them if they had any questions about the book...Stirling replied "no"?!?!?!?!!?
Sarah looked at me, and asked did he just say NO? I laughed and confirmed it. Sarah looked back at Stirling, said "ok" and continued to read to him. This happened several times, and was very cute.
Later that night, All the birds were out in the living room with us as they are each night. The grandkids helped me feed the birds their dinner, and then Sarah wanted to read some more to them. This time Emma, had front row, and LOVED being read to. Emma completely ignored her love of her life, her pop-pop, (George) for the first time in her life. Emma sat close to Sarah as she read and showed her pictures. Emma mumbled along with Sarah as she read, shaking her head yes, and lifting her wings from time to time as Sarah's voice became exaggerated along with the story.
Here is a picture we were able to capture of the two of them

An adorable photo and story! I know you and hubby are happy to have them back stateside, as are we. May their life in CO be happy, and please hug this returning soldier for us

We are so glad your family has returned safely and so grateful for their duty and service. Our prayers continue for them... and all our soldiers.

Thanks to your BIL for what he has done for all of us.

It's great how some parrots can be fascinated by children and tune into them.

Hey Lisa--could you please tell me where you got that stand that Emma is sitting on? The local bird store uses something very similar, but don't have them for sale. I'd like to get something like that, if they're still available.

Thanks
