She may loose her tameness towards you if you keep them in the same cage. I've kept single budgies before and they've all did fine without the other bird in the house.

There's no guarantee that they will get along. I would definitely keep the new 'keet in a seperate cage at first. And monitor how they react toward each other.

Like others have said, there is never a guarantee that your current bird will get along with any other bird you bring in the house. They definitely need to start off in separate cages and may need to remain in separate cages. And keep in mind that younger birds generally get along with other birds, but once they mature, they can often become territorial of places like their cage and become more aggressive towards each other.

Personally, I would not introduce a new bird in until I had built up a complete trusting relationship with the current bird. And both you and your bird will be growing and changing and I would take time to really get to know the current bird before adding another. Especially with budgies and some smaller birds, they are harder to keep tame when they are in groups or pairs, especially if they are not completely tame and trusting to begin with.

My experience with budgies is that if you buy another bird when you have one bird that is already tame, the tame one stays friendly but the new one never becomes friendly. You may be able to teach the new one to sit on your finger so you can handle it enough to take out of the cage, but it will never be interested in playing with you even if the tame one dies and the wild one is now the only bird. Other people's experience may vary, but this has happened to me three times. This was a long time ago and I know a lot more now about training than I did back then, so if I was to do it again I might have better luck.

I would expect that buying a new bird before the first one is tame will most likely result in two permanently untamed birds. I get the impression that you don't have any previous training experience, and if this is right then you probably won't have any better luck with a second bird. Having two is more complicated than having one and you really need to get some experience first.

If there is a bird club in your area you might find someone there who can help you out with some on-the-spot instructions. A pet store in your area might also be able to help if you go to a small one whose clerks are knowledgeable about birds, if you go there at a time when they aren't busy.
