If your little one is eating lots of fresh veggies and fruits and some seed, why do you need the pellets? If his health is good, honestly, why mess with things? None of my birds eat pellets unless it is a male feeding chicks, otherwise the pellets hit the cage floor.

What type of squash are you referring to? Yellow squash doesn't have to be cooked for birds. In fact, I think mine like the uncooked texture better as it is more firm and the seeds can be gotten easier. The big, hard skinned squash can be baked or boiled and served chucked up or mashed.

If you really want to use the pellets since you've already bought them(all my birds eat pellets, but prefer fruits, veggies, and people food), try soaking a few pellets in warm fruit juice or water. If they eat them, it may be the hardness of the pellet that they don't like instead of the pellet itself.

Ill try that see what he does. he eats alot of other hard stuff so i unno.... i think its just cuz fruits and veggies seem more appealing so ive tried taking them out of his cage for awhile but that did seem to do it either ill try the warm fruit juice thanks

A bird's diet should be everything in moderation. Some birds don't like pellets but it depends on what they were weaned to either by the parents or the hand feeder. Feeding a varied diet of mostly veggies and some fruit along with other things they can have without the bird eating pellets is fine.
I have found one pellet product that the smaller birds like. It is called, "Tropical Bits" made by Senic Bird Foods. The canaries will even eat that and I usually mix that in with the seed. The keets love it and so do the Cockatiels. Never had to soak it. The pellet is very small.

Parrotlets are usually very good eaters. That you are feeding tons of fresh food is great. Keep the pellets in the cage separate from any seed. He will eventually try them. Be careful if you soak them in water or any type of liquid as that starts the bacteria growing. They should be removed in an hour or two depending upon the temperature in your house. I always feed the Harrison's high potency fine and the Zupreem canary/finch size to mine. Look in the bottom of the dish of pellets. If it is "powdery" you know he is eating them. Sometimes it appears they are not eating them when they are. The crumbs fall to the bottom. I feed seed once a week and millet as a treat once a week
