Andrew they are gorgeous, I just love the Fischers. I would love to have one but I know what you mean they are non stop chatty.
As far as the guy who sold them to you, I think it's terrible and sure do hope that the other one was sold to someone that can spot the signs of a hungry bird and then know what to do |

They're beautiful little guys. Hope the other one went to such a good home as yours..

some birds, while they are weaned at a breeder, sometimes revert back to formula when they go to a new home. Its not uncommon at all. The changes take away their security so they revert back to having to be formula fed again. Maybe this was the case in this instance.

Not to be the bad guy, but I have weaned many lovebirds and cockatiels. I have sold them in my store after being weaned for 1 to 2 weeks. They eat great! Then they get to their new home and beg for a handfeeding becuase they are scared. The owners are always warned of this from me and always I will either go to their home and feed or they can bring the bird back to me a couple times a day till the little one gets settled.
It happens. The breeder may not have known that this might happen since it is a hobby breeder and not a larger scale one. When you get one baby begging, all babies seem to beg. So it may have only been one even that reverted, but the other saw it begging and decided to do it too. Stuff happens, glad that you were prepared.

They MAY have been weaned, but I seriously doubt it. My Severe 'reverted' when I got him, and went from being completely weaned to requiring 2-3 feedings a day when he came home- But I was warned that this might happen. With the Grey I just bought, I was told by the breeder that he still wanted a feeding or two a day, though he was eating solid food... The people with the lovebirds didnt say anything about handfeeding- Even pretty much assured us that they were completely weaned... If we didn't know what the begging was, and weren't watching what they ate and their weights, there could be trouble...
