Lambert Update..

Hey all....if you read my introduction you know I am sitting a B&G, Lambert.
He's been at our house for about 3 months now. Well, yesterday for the first time he started playing with a bird toy! Anytime before yesterday if I presented him with a toy he'd literally freak out. I tied one to his stand early on(he doesn't have a cage) and he wouldn't go near it. So I know its a small step but I am super excited about it. He's actually right next to me on the couch wrestling with it right now! I'm so happy.
His social skills have improved so much! He is still skittish around the kids (4 and 6) but getting better. He is a total cuddle bug. He rarely pushes my hands away when I try and snuggle.
His owner was talking about us adopting him but the other night said he didn't know if he was ready to give him up Even though he isn't cuddly with anyone in the house but me, my whole family is becoming emotionally attached. He's so much fun....and besides that we've seen how much he's changed for the good in the last three months and we'd all hate to see him regress. I wish I'd get a solid yes or no because I'd really like to take him to get a full work up at the vet. I don't know how ethical it would be to take him if he isn't officially ours. Ramble, ramble, ramble....hope this all makes sense...on sinus meds and feel as if I'm in a fog!
I have a question about the feathers on Lambert's chest. Right under his black "beard" his gold feathers seem to be growing in the wrong direction. It isn't smooth...I'd compare it to a calick (sp?) on a human scalp. I'll try and get some pictures later and post them.....any ideas?
By the way, you guys are all so awesome! Really enjoy this web community!

Good luck, I really hope you are allowed to adopt him - I can certainly see why you and your family would get attached.

I don't have any experience to really comment on the feathers but am sure that someone qualified to do so will soon.

He's certainly gorgeous!!! Have you given him a bath??? Sometimes bathing helps flatten feathers out in the right direction.

He's gorge. Could just be where he's been rubbing. You should see state of meg when she's been rubbing her pin feathers out.

Hope you get to keep him then you can get him health checked and more love :)

It's great when they start playing with toys. Merlins only just started using her sisal perch \o/
