rethought cage ideas

I posted earlier about a cage for a GCC, and decided to repost so everyone could help. I rethought the size of the first cage, as it was small and about the same price as these bigger cages.
I found another website with the same quality cages for even less then that one, and has a good selection of bigger cages. What do you think of these?
I personally like the first and second ones most. these are all within my price range, just want to know what will work best!
For a GCC would a dome top, open top, or playtop be best?

I like the first one too! We had the 5th one, you have to be careful with those tops as they can close on a bird if whatever you use to hold it open gets moved.

We had a GCC for a long time in the 5th cage, so I like the flat tops, it gives more bouncing room! Jynx was a very active little bird!

thanks! who else has had experience with these cages?

Also> I have a white cage for my linnie, and want a different color. They come in white, grey, black, green, blue, and sand.
I'm getting a turquios gcc, so im thinking sand would accent the colors of the bird nicely. any opinions?

  • The first cage is basically 24x22x30. That's 15840" of space. Not a bad cage...
  • The second cage is basically 24x22x33. That's max 17424" of space. It's alright...
  • The third cage is basically 26x20x27. That's max 14040" of space. I hate those legs as I have heard of a story of a bird who got it's head stuck in the V shape more than once... and if the owner wasn't there the bird could have killed itself
  • The fourth cage is basically 22x17x30. That's about 11220" of space. I don't really care for the design of the stand but otherwise I don't really have any complaints...
  • The fifth cage is basically 22x17x34. That's about 12716" of space. I already said my opinion on the legs, and I don't care for those tops either, as mentioned by wildirish mentioned... unless you can secure the cage closed...
  • The sixth cage is basically 17x22x34. That's max 12716" of space. Again, the legs...
  • The seventh cage is basically 22x17x33. That's max 12342" of space. Legs and top, hate them both...

Or there is this cage

  • This cage is basically 32x21x35. That's 23520" of space. I hate to break it to ya but this cage is the same brand as the ones your looking at, it's bigger than the ones you are looking at, and it's also cheaper than the ones you are looking at.

If your price range is under $200 then I really suggest the one right above.

Of course there are cages available in your area....

I prefer the 2nd one.

After having both playtop and now dome top cages I prefer dome top as they don't stay on cage all time but fly to the playstands. They still potter about top of cage but use playstands more now.

Having been manager of a store that deals only with parrots, I have had a lot of input on cages! I would say the first one would be best for both the bird and for you. It's true that the GA 13221 model is largrer and less expensive. However it is made for smaller birds, so the bars are closer together and not as strong. A really active small parrot will still be able to bend or even break the lighter bars. And the droppings will hit every cage bar on the way down, making it really fun for you to keep clean!

The first cage is a parrot cage. It is stronger and more durable. It has a seed guard around the outside which will keep at least most of the seed and droppings off the floor. It has a play top so the bird can be allowed on top. If you don't have room or can't afford to set up a separate playgym area, at least he will have the cage top. I had this cage for my white headed pionus and I absolutely loved it. It was so easy to maintain. And that is really as important as the size, because over the years you will be cleaning and caring for the cage, you want something that is easy and convenient for you as well as comfortable for the bird.

Sand is always a good choice, and also gray. These colors don't show the dust or the droppings and beak wipings as much as a darker color does.

Good luck, let us know which one you decide to go with.

PS the legs on the other stands are bad news. we had a parrot in the store that got his head caught in the legs. he slid down until he was in so tight we almost couldn't get him out. fortunately we were able to rescue him. but we sent those model cages back.

GCC cage

I have 1 very similar to the 5th one, except that it has another perch you can place on top where doors open out.I tried several differant types of cages and he seems to prefer this type over any others. Also i keep a t.v.tray table in front of his cage with a playgym on it,as well as a ladder that goes from floor up 3 feet.He is quite content with this set-up.

I like the flat tops myself that way I can put a dish of water on the top so they can bath in it. All of my birds like to bath on the tops of there cages rather than inside.

I like the first one, I have a pair of quakers in one like that and they seem to love it.
