Vet Visit & A few pics

Marlow went to the vet today. All is well- In fact, all is GREAT- the vet said that he was in excellent condition, great size/weight for his age, and showed 'excellent muscular development' as well. Gram stain was great, too- She said that it was better than usual for a baby bird.... Spent some time on the playstand, too-

And even wore the harness for a while!! Need to get used to that-

Marlow still begs for food- a lot- but is eating pellets and veggies as long as no one is watching... Still gets 2 handfeedings a day, though...

And, We FINALLY told Miro about his winning entry in the Parrots At Play calendar contest... His SECOND photo contest win so far! His first reaction was disbeleif-

Then, A cheeky wave to his admiring public-

He reminds all his fans that he will be availible to sign calendars for a SLIGHT fee...

Even Ms. 'Clectus has been looking her best- FINALLY done with her molt, she was looking VERY ratty for a while there, but has all her new bright feathers in now-

And of course, the Fishers Lovebird, Montague. His sister died last week, of still unknown causes, which is why HE went to the vet for a checkup today as well-

The other lovebird was smaller, and lighter, and never ate as well... Fortunatly, they found nothing wrong with monty.

This stresses the importance of QT'ing new birds- Marlow and monty came home the same day (last sunday), and have been seperate from one another AND of course my other birds... If one of them had something transmittable, we could have a disaster on our hands... We keep them as isolated as possible and make sure that we are washing/disinfecting hands as much as possible...

Sorry if the pics are a little slow... My server has been acting up today!!

-Andrew

Great pics! Everyone looks so healthy! Miro is very handsome and doesn't look too full of himself, even though he is a star! I love Monty's little face.
Thanks for sharing and sorry to hear about his sister.

You do have exceptionally pretty birds. Every time I look in that little Severe's eyes, I just melt. He's so darn cute!

Miro should be very proud, after all.... he's famous! That new widdle baby TAG (is a TAG, right? Looks like the beak is not solid black, but I can't really tell from the pic...) is ADORABLE!

Your fids are beautiful.

I wish I was loved by a Severe--they are just THE cutest little things! Every once in awhile I can ALMOST forget just how evil Eddie is, and it's always when I'm admiring his cute li'l face.

I must say, I'm jealous! Eddie was supposed to be MY bird--dangitall! LOL!

Your birdie pix are beautiful, as always :-).

I have a Canon EOS rebel XT. It is a manual/automatic SLR- So for the tougher shots, I can switch it into manual mode and set everything up myself, so I get proper focus/exposure, etc... The reason that so many of the fully automatic cameras produce blurry pics is that they aren't focusing on what you want them to focus on- The may focus on the cage, the background, or whatever- just not the bird! Having the manual option is NICE!
