Parrot Medly

Well I'm working on getting out of my serious art rut...serious being as in I haven't done anything steadily for years. I'll go on and off. I blame it on burnout in college, but I want to get back into my FID art pretty badly these days. So in trying to get my motivation and trying to get that Grey beak perfected I did some ruff sketches with a ball point pen and just a tablet of paper, and this is what I spun out. Don't mind the chicken scratch! Bella's on the bottom there with the roughly drawn Macaw. :)

Nice... I do small 'studies' like this when I am bored and waiting somewhere- Gives me ideas for compositions, layouts, etc- and also keeps you 'loose'.

When I dont have the time/ambition to tackle a whole bird, I will sketch part of one- That is the attachment- I did it when I was on a plane last month... It is a small sketch, about 2 1/2" x 4" or so. Beats reading the magazine in the seat pocket!

Nice detail with the skin. I just need to get my feel back, and my hands aren't what the used to be. I'm hoping for a more perminant return of my FID art this time around.

The last time I started doing a "montage" it was of Pokemon characters for my daughter.
I did 2 pages & wound up with 50 characters on each page.

I agree, nice skin work Andrew. The eye has a somewhat devilish look....like the bird is thinking, "I bet if I squawked real loud right now, I could get him to toss his pencil right over his head."

I agree Irish maybe we should have some kinda art gallery set up on the board for these guys featuring a new sketch each week. I know I would enjoy it.
