Is it a safe plant? Urgent!

Hello everybody?
I've been given a plant named Pachira (South Amercan?) Is it ok to have it with my parrots? In the meanwhile I'm keeping it out of the door, but it's not a good place...
Thank you for your advice...

If you google "bird-safe plants" you'll find several lists with both safe and toxic plants. I haven't found pachira on any of these lists, but google indicates that "money tree" is an alternative name for it. http://www.avianlove.com/display_page.php?i=10 and http://www.parrotchronicles.com/departments/plants.htm say that the money PLANT is safe for birds, but I'm not 100% convinced that this is the same thing. It would be best to do more research on this (such as finding out the scientific name of your plant and googling for information on toxicity) before you let your birds anywhere near it.

Very good advice. I too would rather have the scientific name in order to do a more thorough search. I am not familiar with the first name you gave but I do know the Money plant. Let us know as I am curious myself now.

Thank you sooo much! You've been very useful: I saw some photos and noticed that Pachira and Money tree are the same plant I own.I also follwed the lnks you gave me and it seems a safe plant. For the moment I let it enter the parrots room, but in a place out of their reach...Thanks a lot!
