Rio, B&G, definitely picked me. We were thinking about a CAG, when I walked by his perch and he hopped a ride. The second day he did that he came home with us. Mija layed her head on Lori's shoulder, went to sleep and that was that. Mora didn't have a choice, we saw, we held, we were hopelessly in love.

My CAG, Oliver, kind of picked me out and I know I picked him out. I first saw him as a baby and love at first sight. Probably a little of both... picking out each other.

Skipped through all the responses, but maybe I'll come back and read 'em...
The only birds that I have picked currently are my two female budgies. Number of birds who have picked me??? Zero. Zip. Nadda... Number of birds rehomed to me? 1 Cherry head conure, 5 cockatiels (okay, so one I kind of took whether or not the answer to me taking her was a yes-which it was which made things easier!), 1 budgie, 1 bourke... Casey, first tiel, was given to me. One bourke born here...

Most of my guys were rehomed, so I chose to live with them.
Stirling, my dads grey, who now lives with me since my dad passed on, chose me back in the 90's. I was the ONLY one who has ever been able to handle him. Emma's breeder and I had been in contact for 9 months before she came to live with me. My first meeting with her, she ran across the cage at me to give me a kiss. The breeder said she hadnt done that to anyone else. I guess she picked me, because she KNEW just how much I had loved and wanted her from the day I found out about her. Its a long story about the problems that kept her from coming to stay with me earlier. I have enclosed a picture of the day I met her, and brought her to her aunts house to await her test results. Also is a picture of how she lived prior to me getting her, and how her lifestyle has changed. Sydney was the last baby left in a clutch. I chose him. The last Two pictures are of him, when I met him...and once he came home. He was eating on his own when he came home, and the feeding you see was just a bonding thing. He begged for food, and he was spoiled a bit... note his bib**LMAO** Ollie, I chose him. Harley was differnet. I had a club and was contacted by someone to place an ad in the newsletter to sell her bird. I took the ad, and a week later(before the newsletter came out) she called me back and said to come get him, or she was going to let him out the window. The owner gave me all his paperwork, and told me to keep him because she wanted to make sure he had a quality life with someone who knew birds. Forget the ad, and he was no longer for sale.... However, she told her husband, who;s bird it was, that I was "boarding" the bird....A buyer was found by the owner, 6 months later, (and just before christmas) After, I bought him a new cage, and had tests run, and fed him for 6 months.... Sooooo...since then that was the time I was told that I was only "boarding" him, I wrote up a bill, for the supplies, medical and boarding fees. The Owner refused to pay me, and threatened me with coming to take him out of my house, and would report me as a thief. I surprised him to tell him that I actually had his paperwork, and original visa receipt on which he bought the bird and cage.........so the bird was NOT stolen. (his wife "forgot" to mention she gave me the state paperwork and receipts, as well as an adoption letter!) So needless to say, He paid nearly 2,000 for all, and minus my boarding fees, vet, food and cages fees, It was agreed I would give him $250.oo and his attorney advised on the situation agreed. that amount was reached because that was the amount he would have ended up with after he sold the bird, and paid me my fees.

Goliath, my Hahn's, is a rescue bird, so I chose him. It was a good choice ... he's very strongly bonded with me. He was originally to be my husband's bird, but Goliath didn't see things that way. He's a wonderful little bird ... he's my "meanie greenie" baby.
Marley was the last little TAG left in the clutch, so I didn't get to choose, but he's fantastic. I don't think it could have turned out any better if he had got to choose us ... he's my sweet baby.

I didn't really choose either of my guys.
I found an ad on line from a "breeder" (I use the term loosely) that had a couple of TAGs available. I had been searching for months to get a TAG. There just didn't seem to be any available around me. By the time I go in touch with him, he only had one left. So, he's the one I got. Spencer is so much fun to have around. He talks to me constantly and even regurgitates from time to time. When I was ready for my second bird, I new I had to go with a grey't breeder. This is where Tristan came in. We (Jane and I) discussed the fact that I had a male Timneh. She thought it was best that I get a female Congo. The clutch she had was 2 males and a female. They are both wonderful birds. If I get close enough, Tristan will jump from her cage onto me. Even if I'm not close enough, she'll fly to me! They both love to interact with me, and that's just fine. Because I love interacting with each of them. |
