I'm sure many of you have experienced this but...

this is my first time. Tater is really starting to get attitude when being put in his cage. What a stinker. He is sooooo easy to read and I know when he's going to bite....one of these reasons for biting is going back in, lol.
I try to give him a minute or so of cuddles and pets while standing in front of the cage but, he's very strong willed and just doesn't want to go. I try to make it as possitive as I can but, it's kinda hard when he's biting (not hard enough to break skin phweeeew).
I just tell him to step up about 5-10 times and that usually breaks him. Before he complies to my command....he gives me a bite or two and I just bring my hand down a bit to startle and he quits. It's kinda cute cuz he'll start mouthing instead of biting to ensure that he's getting his point across that he still doesn't want to go in. Poor lil guy....if I could, he'd be with my 24/7!

We had a real problem with Twiggy biting when she'd go back into her cage so I made a circular rope perch and attached it to her door and she steps on that now when she goes into and out of her cage and there is no more biting. In fact she likes it so well she has named it *Twiggy's go in-go out*. di

You can try some 'positive reinforcement' training, by giving a yummy treat that he only gets when you put him back in his cage. Also, try not standing in front of the cage for those last minute cuddles, he could be interpreting this as teasing. Do your cuddles on the sofa or chair, start preparing him, tell him it's nite nite time, he's going to get a yummy treat, etc. When ready, take him to his cage, show him the treat and put him right in and give him his treat, and lots of praise. He may never like leaving you, so a treat may just make it a bit more bearable.
