Cool New and interesting Ducky behavior

I mentioned in a previous post how Ducky goes on top of the china cabinet but I have to put him there and he eventually figured out how to climb down when I'm not around but when he can see me, he expects me to get him down. Well, he's picked up, in the last few days, a new and funny thing regarding the china cabinet. He climbs up by himself but before going to the top, he goes inside the china cabinet and rearranges the wine glasses and makes these really cute noises while he's doing it. He'll stick his head out to look for me so I'll go over there and when I go to the china cabinet, he'll go back to rearranging and exploring and chattering saying things like "Hi Duck," and other cute things. Then when he's finished his rearranging, he'll climb on top of the cabinet and then even climb on top of this vase so he's really, really high and just sit there preening himself. He's so high that his head is a mere inch or so from the ceiling making it really hard to reach him. He simply loves it up there. In fact, last night he stayed up there most of the evening and I wanted him to eat something so I ended up taking him his mash and while on the step stool, I held him his bowl of food while he ate. When he was done, he pushed it away.

I know, it may be suggested that I could stop him from getting up there but I don't know that I want to do that. He really seems to enjoy being up there and it's not an issue for me to get him down when I want him down -- I just have to use a step stool and reach way up there and sternly say "step up" and he will reluctantly. I am thinking he may like it up there for a couple of reasons. Heat rises so it's nice an warm up there and second, it's high and he can see pretty much see me anywhere I am unless I head to the bedroom or bathroom. It hasn't made him aggressive or dominant and he doesn't poop up there.

Funny the new things they pick up to do ... LOL

Thanks -- he is a funny bird that I'm simply crazy about. I've been home today -- so guess where he has spent most of his day? Yep, on top of the china cabinet -- in fact, he's there right now. I've taken him down a few times so he could eat and go potty if he needed to. I'm going to him stay there for as long as he wants until or if he gets aggressive for being up so high. I've heard that birds that are perched higher than we are can get aggressive and so far, he has not. What I'll probably do is get him a play gym and put it on top of the china cabinet -- won't that be pretty for my decor ... LOL.

A couple of times today when I went to get him down, he moved to the back part of the vase so I said very, very sternly and in a loud voice "STEP UP" so he simply placed his cute little foot on my finger but did not step up so I had to say it again more sternly and then he did. He really likes it up there -- it's really funny.

Earlier this year, he was hanging out under my bed. He would just hang out there and seemed to love it. I couldn't figure out what was so fascinating to hang out under a bed in the dark but that what he did for the longest time. He would come out of his cage and walk across the living room to the hallway and head right for my bedroom and sit under the bed.

Yep, Ducky stories are great.

Sounds like he is content up there and I am sure I would do the same thing you are until such time as you see any negative behaviour. I think the idea of him wanting to rearrange wine glasses it too cute (as long as he doesn't start pushing them off the shelves).

Pictures or better yet a video of him on there would be most excellent!
