Question Bourke Parakeet, sexually frustrated?

My Bourke Parakeet is a little over 2 years old. My question is this, this is the second time this year she has had this happen. She is very aggressive and chases after our feet, hands etc. But the problem is we also have a pet Parollette about 4 years old, I really think she wants to mate with him but he wants no part of this and is always trying to bite her. Is there anything we can do to help the Bourke through this time? This lasts at least a couple months.
Thanks for any info.
Linda

Decrease the light cycle, stop feeding excess seeds and soft foods. During the summer months, our pet birds get longer light cycles which stimulate the desire to breed. Also feeding excessive soft foods like soft breads, mashed veggies can also stimulate the breeding cycle. Seeds are high in fat and protein and for many birds also say "time for a family we have an abundace of high fat foods".

My biggest suggestion is to feed diet that has lots of different components like seeds, nuts, fresh veggies, and whole grains. Decrease the light cycle by small amounts every day till the behavior decreases.

I have two female bourkes, sisters... One was becoming far too hormonal, and started laying eggs, and loosing weight. I found that buy putting her in a smaller cage with a different arrangement helped.

You can try easily moving things around, maybe a different set up, in a different room, and of course the things Dayna mentioned.
