Where do you buy your sisal rope?
I was just wondering where I could get some bird safe sisal rope. I bought some from Wal-Mart the other day, and e-mailed the company just to be on the safe side, to make sure they didn't treat their sisal with any chemicals. The sales manager wrote me back and said this:
Our sisal products are currently treated with a softener emulsion of 1% mineral batching oil. We do not recommend you use our sisal for the application you refer to below. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me (the application I refered to was in toys for my parrot) Anyways, where do you get your sisal at? The company I e-mailed was Lehigh. Thanks everybody!

I should've known that Grey Feather Toys would have it. That Bird Nerd site was pretty cool too. Thank-you!

I actually found mine at Harbor Freight. The first thing I did was give it the sniff test. Totally organic, not petroleum. Mike also convinced me to launder it first (Geesh!, more work
) and I dye with alcohol. I think that's a good way to go.
