g'day greyburd,
Superbs are probably better known where you are as the Barabands Parakeet. They are a beautiful Australian parrot measuring about 45cm. in the wild they inhabit the bush area around the murray darling basin. where the murray river and the darling river meet and empty into each other. Here is a couple of pics.

All of the Ringneck family have that very serious parrot look due to their heavy maxill, especially the Alex, but I still think they're really cool. They also have some interesting color mutations: yellow(lutino), whites, blues, silvergreys, etc.
I must say though, that the Baraband are very pretty birds with their hooded coats of green and the splash of red & yellow across the face. Good luck with your choice & your upcomin Fid.

Hey there guys.
I will definietely post the pictures of him as he grows. I personally think there is nothing better than to watch than a litttle hatchling with its alien type looks begins to grow and grow gradually geting bigger and bigger before turning into somethin absolutely beautiful. hey there Tiki, yes Arthur is very passionate about what he does. He has ben such a great help also in answering my questions, I feel like I have been a nuisance trying to get all of my quetions answered but he said it is quite alright every time I apologised and he just keep on answering my questions for me. One thing I have said since talking to Arthur and all of those emails I sent out a while back is that you can really tell the ones who are in it for the money and thos that are trully pasionate about what they do by the level of help they give you. Arthur has gone absolutely out of his way for me and also for his birds. While all of thos emails I sent out about a month ago looking for a superb, many were un answered and many were a simple no, or nup or, sorry cant help you, we dont do it. none of the replies I got even started with a hello. But Arthur has been great so I have chosen him and his alexandrines. I think that the superb parrot is something that might wait untill I start breeding my self and can observe them a little better to gain more information and also if I do it this way then I am able to rear one my self and if it turns out that it is not right as a pet then it can go back into aviaries as breeding stock. The superb parrot(baraband) is a beautiful little bird that I would really like to own one day either as a pet or in aviaries however I feel that for now I have made the right decision in getting an alexandrine. The children want to call him Artemis when we get him. I have no idea where they got that name from. So we will see how it goes. Cheers guys.
