looks like i may need new home

for a 21 y/o b&g macaw. it tears my heart out to even think it but my so's son, his girlfriend and child are living with us right now and have no concept of how stress can harm a bird. no desire to learn either. they seem to not believe me and unfortunately my so is not backing me up. he seems more intent on teaching them that they do not need to listen to anything i say.

anyway, enough of the drama. if the staying up to all hours (in and out of the room Bubba is in and stressing him out) doesn not end in the next day or 2 the only thing i know to do is try to find him a good home where his needs can be provided better than i can provide for him ate this point. there would be no charge for him and his cage. but i WOULD require to hear (privately) from others on this board about any who would like this give this wonderful bird a home. that is the only way i know to try to provide the best for him. so if you think you might be interested and able and willing, please post here so others will maybe see your posts also and help guide me in this. you can read my past posts and get an adea about this guy and i will answer any questions as fully and honestly as is humanly possible.

thank you,
pam

Hello Pam, I am saddened to hear about the decision that you may have to make here soon. Where are you located? Has this parrot been tested for polyomia or any other diseases and/or virus? Fully feathered? How's his appetite/diet? Has he been known to be aggressive, ever? Any health concerns or issues?

I certainly would be interested in reading a little more about this little one. Will you be parting with yourr CAG as well?

Good luck!

I would take him if i were in the same country but i think it would be more stressed coming into a whole different country with different weather and what not. im sure you'll find a suitable person.

Hello, I sent you a PM just because I'm not good at being an open book in public :)

I to deal with severe depression - daily & the birds are about the only thing I get up in the morning's for.

I live in NW ohio - but I am traveling to your "area" on Wen {I know short notice, it was for Me also} I am going on a voyage to help a great friend of Mine adopt another bird.

I have read through the progress you've made with this guy since him coming to you. You've done a great job - I am interested in fostering him for you - if that's something that would be feezable to you? Also interested in fully adopting him if fostering isn't something you want/ would like to do.

If you've not already gotten him to the vets for a work up. That is one thing I can offer, along with keeping him vet checked. My flock sees a traveling vet 2x per year, I also have several avian vet's I trust that are local for ER situations.

I do have a "large" flock of My own - They all live in the living room with us. My house is maintained for the birds comfort not hosting company :) I do have a back room which was My scrapbook business office I am converting into a room for the Caws to get away from the Too's & Greys. Which is where My PC will be - and I spend most of My free time.

I have my shower set up with perch's & a couple bath tub stands for the ones afraid of the big bad perch LoL. I offer my guys Zupreem fruit & natural, higgins seed mix's *a variety* goldenfeast treat mix, birdie breads - fruits n veggies on skewers on just in a bowl or in there foraging toys. Along with feeding them people foods - my greys actually beg for it like dogs LoL!

If you'd like to chat with me more. Please feel free to email me - I Sent My address along in the PM.

I'm sorry your having to do this. I am willing to help not so much take your baby. If fostering isn't a good idea for you, I'm also very interested in adopting him & giving him a hand.

thats what i think too :(

do you think you can find someone to take care of him for you until your son moves out? at least that way you can get him back after your son leaves. this is such a tough decision :(

Hi, I sent you a pm and I feel the same as the previous posters. Talk to some of you friends first or even your vet. If not I am interested and maybe we could even talk about Fostering him for you - Thats not in my pm so keep me in mind.

Please be very careful who your bird goes to. A lot of people aren't what they seem and it's [I]very[I] easy to lie and sound like the perfect home on the internet. Thoroughly check them out, even if it means asking around on other boards they might now or in the past have frequented. Some people sound great 'till you find out who they really are later...

If at all possible, make sure to visit their home and see what their living space will look like prior to letting him go. I just don't want to see him worse off that he is now, ya know? Crammed into a crowded trailer with a dozen other birds isn't what he needs.

Best of luck to you and Bubba. I hope you can find a way to work things out at home. If not, I hope he goes to the best home for him.
