Thumbs up More good bird tv

wow, last night we watched "a boy and his eagle" its about the causaks (SP?) of southern mongolia who practice falconry, but with golden eagles (HUGE) it went from taking chicks from the nest. (about the size of a full grown chicken) through raising, training, and hunting, then a competition. about a boy 14 years old. they have to gather their own bird. they lowered him down a cliff side, to capture his bird, he raised it. it got to be 14 pounds. compare that to a large macaw at 3 pounds. the bird was perched on his arm and looked as big as him. he was in a competion where men came from as far as 100 miles to compete, riding a horse with a 14 pound bird on your arm 100 miles. luckily it was in the boys home town, so he didnt have to ride so far. he did very well against the men in the competition. this was just 4 months since he got the chick. the birds could soar (SP?) and dive 100 mph compare that to a macaw at 35 mph. on his first hunt his bird caught a rabbit, very cool. it was a beautifuly done japanese documentry. a must see. it was on HDT its a cable channel. discovery science, or national geografic, or something. if you have to buy it, make sure to get the english version, its japanese.

Wow,14 ?I did alot of riding at that age,but I doubt I could have handled an eagle back then.I always find it amazing how fast children of other cultures grow up and are given such responseability. This is probably what keeps them from getting into mischief.

OK, HDT is discovery hd. this show plays again at 1:00 am saturday. i've got comcast. i dont know how the scheduals differ across the country, check your local listings. remember when we only had network tv and the same show played at the same time everywhere, the only diff. was your time zone.

I could not do this either but when you are 14 years old, you have NO fear!
