another one!
The DNA results came back yesterday. Our very own Maya Pappaya is a boy!!
One problem... have you guessed it? Names! My dad seems to have some grudge against me, telling me that he has the final say in names. So far his suggestions are- Chi chi, lopey, mikey, aimes or wierzey. None of which I particularily like. So anyone else have any name suggestions? I'm looking for something different, not too "classic bird" but not something outrageous. Thanks!

I know it sounds really Kevin Sorbo Hercules-ish, but how about "Aeolus"
Mythologically, Aeolus was God of the winds. or Chilo (pronounced Ki' lo).. he was one of the seven sages of Greece

Those wouldn't be my first choices for names either. Is there some reason why Maya won't work? It's really not gender specific, right? If you're interested in an african name, try http://www.20000-names.com/male_african_names.htm. Hmm, how about "Ayo"? Sounds kind of like Maya, and its a Yoruba name meaning "joy"! 'Course you can I'm partial to african names for Poi's, "Tausi" means peacock in Swahili.

Donna- i'm sure you've heard this before, but my sister saw the name 'peeps' in your post, and said "She's chillin' with her Peeps." I thought it was funny.
I'll look up some African names. I really don't want two 'A' names though. Just sounds kinda funny. I actually got 'Arelynn' (Aree's full name) from an african website. Can't remember what it means, but i'm sure its bird related.

Or with a K = "Mako" like the highspeed shark.

Go with 2 A names. I have it easy- all of my birds (current and future) are given Italian names starting with B. I'm weird that way- my parents named all three girls staring with letter K. I also like the African theme, just steer clear of Shiloh....
