How do you get your bird to take a bath?

I have never had any trouble getting Zoe to take a bath. She just had a nice long one yesterday. She will usually take a day off in between though. So today it was time for the Tortoises soak. I had Zoe on my shoulder and didnt think anything of it. I grabbed Zero and took her to the sink and plopped her in the bowl. Torts are not much fun at bath time..LOL. Well let me tell you Zoe went NUTS! I never thought she would want another bath after the one she just took yesterday, boy was I wrong. I took her bowl out and put it in the other side of the sink and she went to town . Every once in a while she would stop and look over to the other side of the sink to see if Zero was still there taking her bath and when she saw that she was....back into the water she would go. I had to wipe down almost the entire kitchen when she was done. LOL. Here are some pictures for you.

Look Like they are having fun!
You can bathe your small bird in many ways:
1-You can mist her lightly with a clean spray bottle filled with warm water only.
OR
2- you can allow her to bathe in the kitchen or bathroom sink under a slow stream of water.
Some birds prefer to bathe on their cages, either in a small flat saucer of warm water...

LOL! So true, CBL! It's the funniest thing in the world watching Eddie bathe in his water dish!

Zoe looks like she's having the time of her life in the sink! I know how it goes with the mess. After the fids have their showers, the whole bathroom is drenched (and me)!

I throw them in the toilet, close the lid and flush a few times. They come out clean as a whistle. Of course this may not be as easy with small birds as it is with macaws. Maybe putting a screen down first would be safer.

Oh Jeff! I don't think my macaw will fit in my toilet!! Too funny! I have a pair of Russian torts too! I made them a huge pen outside. Do you hibernate yours?

Judi,

I also have a pair of torts. Zippy just happened to be having a nap when I soaked Zero. As far as hibernating them, I have not done either one yet. Zippy had a bad respiratory infection when I rescued her from a dirty old tank in the pet store and even though I quarantined her from Zero, she ended up getting sick too somehow. That was last summer so this summer is one year they have been healthy and I am thinking about doing it this winter. Not sure I can go that long without seeing their cute little faces though. . As far as an outdoor pen, we had a huge one. We just moved across town though and are planning to build a new one in the spring. We are going to try to accommodate Zoe into the plans by building higher and having a pen/aviary in one. Here is a pic of both the girls.

They are cute! I'm not sure yet either if I will or not. I might just build a tortoise table for them in the garage for the winter since I have to bring in my sulcatta too. There's a Reptile show here in November I plan on going to, I would like to find another girl. They say you should have more than one so as not to stress the one female out. At least with 2 girls you don't have to worry about them laying eggs but I want to breed mine next year or whenever they get the notion! I have a redfoot on the other side of their pen and boxies arcoss the way from them. It takes me 20 minutes in the morning making everyone salads! Between them and the birds they definitely eat better than me!
