There's nothing wrong with small crumbs if your birds are willing to eat tiny pieces - some birds aren't interested in them. Pellet 'dust' could be a problem if it's inhaled so it's best to remove it.

Its NEVER a stupid question. I sprinkle the dust on their dose of damp vegis sometimes. I have fed it to the finches when I had finches. You can bake it into bird bread or muffins as someone else suggested or as i do now - catch all the dumps from all the dishes (no matter what it is) because they all leave behind different stuff. And I take it out to the wild birds and dump it on the ground around the feeders. They love it! And so do my chickens,LOL!! i have the best fed wild birds around they get a mix of pellets, dust, fruit, seeds - whatever is left.

Or add the crumbs to tiny batches of cooked oatmeal (there by making the oatmeal even better for them). Even add some scrambled eggs to all that.
Makes a great treat and is a great way to recycle some of those bits.

We feed all our fids waste to the wild birds too. Whatever is left in the bowl when we wake up in the morning goes to the wild birds, and our fids get all fresh stuff.
