Throwing toys down

Do your birds like to just throw toys down and watch them drop instead of play with them? Gillian seems to enjoy that very much ... Then I pick them all up for her and she does it all over again. Is this the norm?

Oh, yeah. We call that the "sucker game". Exactly the same thing a 1 year old in a high chair does. I'm waiting for the laugh when the toy hits the ground.

Yes, I think most birds play this game. Our 2s actually do laugh.
Sometimes it's not just throwing to the ground either, they will aim for you when your back is turned. Now, if we could just direct this into a game of catch instead.

I really dont know why, but it seems no matter what it is, if its not attached to a chain whatever I give to Houdini for some reason ends up in his beak at the end of a ledge, and then its on the floor and hes standing there, head cocked to the side, looking down at it like * what happened?*

My first cockatiel that I owned *bless his poor soul* use to take every single one of my colored pencils out of my pencil case, carry it to the ledge of my desk and drop it on the floor, untill the pencil case was empty.

reading these posts is so funny! Bindy is exactly as described above. I believe she loves the noise. With marbles, she watches where they roll, and her head stays cocked to the side until it stops rolling. If I put a blanket on the floor, she gets so mad!! She screams and complains! She only likes it when the toys (especially loud ones like tins) hit the floor with a big boom! She especially likes it if there is an entire container of toys that she can pull off the table at once! Wow, that makes her happy!

The "boys" will play fetch with me for hours. I refuse to play that game anymore. I think they laugh at me when I'm not looking

My U2 plays this game also but ashe only laughs when it hits someone. Boy can she fling a toy. My klids learned real quick not to sit on the floor near her cage.

Yes, my tiels used to make me play "fetch" with them too. But now I give them toys that mount onto the aviary wire or hang off a branch so they have to be happy with simply destroying the toy.

Yep.

Maja was pitching toys at my husbands guitar to hear it go "Brouuumm" when the toy hit it. We've since put the guitar back in it's case. She's a really good aim! She likes to play the drop game too. It's just like when my kids were small. I fell for it then, and I'm still falling for it now. :)
I've never met a bird who didn't, but I'm sure they're out there.
