Space Heater Safety?

I wondered if anyone could help me with a space heater question.
I ordered an electric spaceheater yesterday form a shopping
network, and their customer service dept. was unsure if the heater
had teflon parts.
I am concerned about using the heater and the safety of my lovebird.
The heater is made by Soleusair, and is "micathermal".
I will call the manufacturer tomorrow about this- in the
meantime does anyone know about this heater and safety issues?
Any info greatly appreciated!!
Ann

In addition to teflon many heaters regardless of type come with some sort of coating that will burn off within the first few hours of operation. I bought an oil filled radiator style heater a few months ago to go in the bird room, I ran it on high for about 8 hours outside to burn off of the fumes, then used it in another part of the house for the next couple of weeks until the residual smell went away.

There was a ton of information when I googled the company and the heater but nothing was written about any teflon coating. That doesn't mean there isn't any teflon, so your best bet is to speak with the manufacturer, as you're planning to do.

I have the oil-filled radiator heaters and am using them for my third winter. As paranoid as I am about space heaters, I absolutely love these. There are no moving parts and no exposed elements.

I didn't find anything either. However, I use a micathermal space heater by Holmes in my birds room without a problem. I too didn't know if it had any teflon parts because I couldn't find any information regarding such. The smell that it gave off during the first use scared the heck out of me, so I plugged it up on the outside on the side of the house for some hours before I brought it back in. I have been using it ever since (about three months now) and have not had, not one problem.
